As I mentioned
in the preface of the second issue, the idea of this journal started during our
casual discussions with many members of the present board of editors at the
SAMPTA ’95 workshop in Latvia. With
more extensive consultation, especially for the name of the journal and its
scope, I decided in January 2000 to launch our own journal “Sampling Theory in
Signal and Image Processing – An International Journal.” I have received a lot of help from many members
of the editorial board, and have the fortune to have Professor Ahmed I. Zayed
as managing Editor[1].
In leading the journal we
are still committed to publishing high standard articles with a speedy
publication process.
We are happy to announce
dedicating a special issue(s) for SampTA ’03 Papers.
Also, it is our pleasure to
dedicate a special issue(s) to honor Professor Paul L. Butzer’s 75th
birthday, and we are sure that all members of our sampling group will want to
wish him a happy birthday.
Those of you who had
subscribed, or showed the intention to subscribe, will soon receive the first
issue of the second volume. We are
still awaiting more subscriptions of interested researchers and the libraries
of their institutions, as they constitute the only support for our
journal. There is a good discount for
developing countries. We do have back
issues.
